DBT for adults in GA & FL

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a therapeutic technique that is used to help you manage intense emotions and improve personal relationships. DBT works by teaching you skills to improve mindfulness, emotion regulation, distress tolerance, and interpersonal effectiveness.

DBT can help in several ways, including:

  • Improving ability to manage intense emotions

  • Increasing self-confidence and assertiveness

  • Improving interpersonal relationships

  • Enhancing personal growth and resilience

Overall, DBT can be an effective therapeutic technique if you struggle to manage the intensity of your emotions and feel that your behaviors are governed by your emotions. By working with a DBT-Certified therapist, you can acquire the skills needed to feel more in control of yourself and your life.

DBT can help you feel your feelings without getting overwhelmed.

Are you ready to build confidence in yourself and improve your relationships?

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a form of psychotherapy created specifically for use with borderline personality disorder, though the basic tenets of DBT can be helpful to anyone experiencing overwhelming emotions. Although true DBT for more severe cases of BPD consists of a regimented program to include group therapy, the skills training central to DBT can be used in an individual outpatient setting to help clients manage their symptoms and improve their lives.

During a DBT session, we will discuss what struggles you have been encountering and which DBT skills could be utilized to help alleviate those struggles. You will be taught these skills in session and will have a chance to practice them in your day-to-day life and then discuss how they worked. You may also be asked to complete worksheets for practice or keep a Diary Card to track your skills use and other behaviors.

As you undergo DBT, you may experience a reduction in BPD-related symptoms or an increased ability to manage these symptoms. You may feel less overwhelmed by your emotions or notice an improvement in the quality of your interpersonal relationships. You may also feel a greater sense of control over your thoughts and behaviors, and develop a more positive self-image.

It's important to note that DBT is not a quick fix for BPD or other mental health concerns. It requires a trained therapist to guide the process, and it may take multiple sessions to see significant results.

DBT can help you...

  • Manage symptoms such as depression and anxiety

  • Improve your ability to tolerate uncomfortable emotions

  • Increase your ability to problem-solve stressful situations

  • Improve your self-esteem and gain confidence

  • Build and maintain healthy, satisfying relationships
